Guardianship Services

Guardianship Services are provided to adults 55 years of age and older who reside in Richland, Huron, Erie and Ottawa Counties. These clients have been deemed incompetent by the probate courts and have no appropriate family members to care for them.  Staff and volunteer guardians become the legal representative and voice for the individual in need, advocating for their care and comfort at a time when they can no longer speak for themselves.  Guardians regularly visit clients and provide much-needed companionship. Services provided may include assistance with health care and financial decisions, transportation to and from appointments, and assistance with nursing home placement.

If you are aware of adults age 55 and older who may be victims of self-neglect, mistreatment or exploitation by caregivers or family members, please call 419-668-3073, ext.102 or your local Adult Protective Services office.
